I remember when I was a young kid in my late teens it was possible to do some of the work on your own vehicles because they were buit to accomodate the customer. It's a new world now and when that car blasts past the manufacturers warranty.. anything can happen... except you being to work on your own vehicle. 

In order to be a successful mechanic it takes many hours of learning the skill to be sure that what they are doing will not hurt the situation more then helping it. Skilled mechanics work for the people that cannot work for thenselves and trust is the biggest part of that business. Can the customer trust that you will be able to do what it is they need to get their auto back up and going without causing a ridiculous amount of side effects to the vehicle from the service they just performed.

There are so many nasty snares that a person can get into in this business that it is critical to have the insurance policy you need to protect your business.
