I drove by the lottery sign again with it showing over 100 million dollars to the winner. I don't know how many times I have been waiting in line because some old person living on a pension is trying to use a credit card to purchase lottery tickets, or a person using a food stamp card tries to get out of their desperate situation by using what little money they have on let's get rich quick scheme like the lottery.
I do not understand why it happened or when it happened but somewhere along the way a lot of people gave up and just wanted to retire at 26 instead of 66. I remember as a kid all the way up to the age of 35 you had to be willing to work long hours because there were plenty of jobs and the workload was always there. A sense of pride and knowing that what I was doing at work today helped a booming US economy that focused on the people here, not the World Stage that simply wanted what America had created from 1955 to 1997.
We must work at teaching our children that there is nothing good about a get rich quick scheme. And implement a better business environment to bring careers to our people.
In some places like Lake of the Ozarks Mo area. There is about a 6 to 7 month economy per year. Your work as hard as you can to make anything from May to October because from November to April you are lucky to survive the winter there.
I plan on putting people back to work after elected. I plan on fully supporting vo tech education to put kids to work out of High School instead of selling them a lie on Higher education that only helps the top 15 % of the American economy jobs. The rest either end up being duped at a $15.00 per hour job with $55000 in debt to the Government or working at Denny's because they were forced at age 17 with no life experience to pick a career and set up training in college. Most find out later that they hate what they picked and all of that money is wasted.
Let's stop falling for get rich quick schemes. And based on our current economy and lack of economic development Missouri is failing our people when it comes to education and providing anything that could sustain a person financially.
Let's use education to start training our children about things that matter. Finding out what they like and who they want to be. How to cope with the real world and what they can expect after they get out of school, instead of teaching them things that they will rarely use in their lifetime.
